Writing about a review of a book

EL MISTERI DE L’HABITACIÓ GROGA:

I’d like to recommend a book which I read recently, called El misteri de l’habitació groga. The author of the book is Gaston Leroux.

The book is a mystery and the setting is in France at the castle of Glandier. The main characters are Matilde Stangerson, the victim, and Joseph Rouletabille, the detective who resolves the crime.

The things I liked most about the book were the way with the detective solves the crime and the end when the readers know who the offender was. All the scenes are intriguing. The reading is complex and difficult to understand but it's very exciting and interesting. The story is narrated by the assistant of the Rouletabille called Sainclair.

All in all, I really liked the novel, and I thought that would have a typical and boring ending, I would change it because the ending was fascinating and original. I wouldn't change anything of the book because I like all the parts, all the characters and of course the story.

I represent an organization called “NO pollution, YES green areas”. I am writing to you because we are

pollution. If they build a motorway the sounds of the cars can bother the people of the town who live near it because these people bought the house in this area for the calm and the nature. A bike lane, on the other hand, is a better concerned about plans to build a motorway in the park of my town.

In our opinion, a motorway would destroy the only green area that we have in our town and this would increase alternative as it is quiet and it not causes pollution

We have therefore decided to take action, and we are going to organize a protest and a campaign. For this reason, we are sending you a document to sign up for the march to protest against the motorway. We hope that you will support us and help to publicize this event.

Writing about a travelling aboard

Dear Paula,

Thanks for your message. I'm looking forward your visit to Catalunya. I'll come to the airport with my cousin to collect you on Friday. What time does your flight arrive?

I think you'll like Catalunya. We live about 3 km from Banyoles a fantastic place because we have a beautiful lake and a lot of nature and calm. When you’re here there are lots of things we can do. We can go for a walk around the lake, we can visit Les Estunes, Les Coves Prehistòriques de Serinyà, the bridge of Besalú and also we can go to La Costa Brava. And of course, you’ll meet all my friends and we can go to swim in the lake together.

You should bring a jacket and of course a swimsuit. The weather here is warm but sometimes is cold at night

Cameron Michelle Diaz was born in San Diego, California in 1972. She’s been involved in show business as a model since she was fifteen years old. Cameron signed a contract with Elite Model Management. Her first work as a actress began in 1992.

Her big break as a actress came in 1994 in the film “The Mask”. In the years that followed, she made many films and series. In 2007 she received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Since then, Cameron has had a very successful career and also published a book. Her last three films are published in 2014 are Annie, Sex Tape and The Other Woman.

I'm in Los Angeles, California having a great holiday with my friends. I'm staying in enormous holiday in the center of the city. It's got jacuzzi, gym, restaurant and a pool, it's amazing. Los Angeles is a hot city, luckily is in winter. There's a lots of places to visit and enjoy. The people are unfriendly but patient. Yesterday I went to visit Beverly Hills and there I saw the celebrity homes. Tomorrow I would like to go to Hollywood.

Writing about a problem: Traffic jam

I’m writing because today I’ve spent all morning in my car wasting time because there was too much traffic. This problem is important because some people like me, are spending a lot of time in cars and we arrive late for work. This photo shows the queues of cars that there are in the road every day.

I think there are one or two reasons for this. Firstly, people aren’t responsible enough, so perhaps we need more buses. Secondly, not many people use bicycles and this is one of the best solutions for the environment and the traffic.

We must do something about this situation. Maybe there isn’t much traffic in other places. I don’t know, but we must definitely do something here if we want to reduce the traffic in the streets.

Writing about TV highlights

The highlight of this week’s TV was the soap opera Velvet. The first chapter was amazing. The protagonist arrived after a travel and then everything changed. All the protagonists fell in love with someone and appeared new characters who changed the story. The episode was dramatic and romantic.

In Telecinco the reality show Big Brother was fun too. On Thurday one participant was expelled and another won the immunity. The others also won food by doing activities which included song and dance. Then a famous singer did a concert for them. They spent a good night. And I enjoyed a lot that funny program.

Finally also in Channel 5 a sitcom called “La que se avecina” was also worth watching. In Tuesday’s chapter a group of boys went to rescue a girl, but the girl at the same day returned to her house and then the boys wanted to return when they found a tribe. All the scenes made me laugh, it was a fun and exciting chapter.

Channing Tatum is an American actor. He’s in the films Step Up, Dear John, The Vow and Jump Street. He lives with her wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, her daughter Everly and with his dog called Meeka. Channing is tall and he’s got brown hair and brown eyes. The good thing about him is that he’s humble, shy, sensible, funny with clear ideas and hard-working. He’s very active. He did athletics, baseball and football. He went in military school. He also practiced kung and gor-chor kung fu, two disciplines of martial arts. He’s an actor, dancer, producer and a model. Has modeled for Abercrombie &Fitch Dolce & Gabbana and Aeropostale. He likes a comic character called Gambit.

Writing about a friend

Carla Prat and I are friends. Julia lives in Girona and I live in Porqueres. She lives in a flat in the center. We don't go to the same school, but I meet her some Sundays.

Carla is fourteen years old. She's tall and she’s got large, brown hair. The good thing about her is that she’s very friendly, active, curious and funny, although she can also be quite ambitious sometimes, and she isn’t always very generous.

She’s happiest when she’s singing and playing the violin. Carla likes to take care of animals and to go shopping. There’s a big park near her house and we often go there. She also likes dancing and playing tennis and often we do that together.

My last summer

Hi my name is Xènia and now I'm going to talk about my last summer.

First I'm going to explain my trip to Lourdes then I will talk about the summer school of dance, theatre and music. After that I'm going to explain the days in Estartit and Empuriabrava then I will explain the week in France and finally I talk about the days in Figueres and Banyoles.

THE TRIP TO LOURDES:

This year I returned one week to Lourdes with some friends because I enjoyed a lot the experience last year. This year it was more fun because we met more people and it was different because me and my fiends we formed an animation group and every morning we went with the guitars, singing and wakening the people.

The experience was amazing and I hope I could go there next year.

THE SUMMER SCHOOL:

In the month of July I went to a summer school of dance, theater and music like every year. This year was the last one because we are too old to go there, but we enjoyed it a lot with the little girls during these 5 weeks preparing the musical.

ESTARTIT AND EMPURIABRAVA:

I went to l’Estartit for 5 days with my mother and some weekends I went to Empuriabrava with my family. I enjoyed a lot these days because I spend the day in the sea, in the pool, shopping, sailing… I love the beach.

FRANCE:

These days were fantastic I spent every day in a different place of France. I went to Toulouse, Villesèquelande, Alzonne, Bram, Arzens, Foix and Carcassonne. The 2 days in Toulouse were incredible there, we saw a lots of monuments, big buildings and beautiful gardens. Also it was amazing the Carcassonne castle. It is enormous and very beautiful I love all of it because inside there are a lots of shops and restaurants and it has a good views. Also there are incredible medieval streets and a big church and it also had a big wheel.

THE DAYS IN FIGUERES AND BANYOLES:

I spent 3 days in Figueres because I went to different concerts called l’Acustica. These days I stayed at my cousin’s house. On Thursday I went with my cousin and her friends to the concert of Oques Grasses and on Friday with Núria we went to the concert of Txarango. It was amazing and we spent all the concert singing and having fun. During the days I also went inside Figueres to see different activities or concerts with my uncles. I stayed in Banyoles the other part of the summer. And we met every day with my friends. The better days were the summer carnival and the festivals in Banyoles because I laugh, sing, dance a lot and I had fun with my friends.

I also stayed at home and I helped my parents in the rural house because we had British guests and gave me the opportunity to speak English.
